I believe in Love-BarlowGirl: Week #3

Ok, so it's about time for another song. I'm not sure which one to do, so I will chose a barlowGirl song, since of course that is my favorite band... (Just a side note, Barlowgirl is currently on vacation with their family after being in the studio for a few months, and their new album will come out September 22nd, also they will be touring with Superchick this fall!)

Anyways, this song is called "I believe in Love" (on my playlist below)
Here are the lyrics:

How long will my prayers seem unanswered?
Is there still faith in me to reach the end?
I'm feeling doubt I'm losing faith
But giving up would cost me everything
So I'll stand in the pain and silence
And I'll speak to the dark night

I believe in the sun even when it's not shining
I believe in love even when I don't feel it
And I believe in God even when He is silent
And I, I believe

Though I can't see my stories ending
That doesn't mean the dark night has no end
It's only here that I find faith
And learn to trust the one who writes my days
So I'll stand in the pain and silence
And I'll speak to the dark night

I believe in the sun even when it's not shining
I believe in love even when I don't feel it
And I believe in God even when He is silent
And I, I believe

No dark can consume Light
No death greater than this life
We are not forgotten
Hope is found when we say

Even when He is silent I believe in the sun even when it's not shining
I believe in love even when I don't feel it
And I believe in God even when He is silent
And I, I believe.

The middle sister in BarlowGirl usually gives a speech before this song about where it came from, the lyrics, this is what she says... (it's about a story she heard about a man in a concentration camp during the holocaust)

"The quote just simply said, I believe in the sun even when it's not shining. I believe in love even when I don't feel it. I believe in God even when he is silent. And guys that quote just shook me that day, because, to be honest there's a man, who's going through one of the darkest times in history, he probably lost everything, he probably lost his family. Guys, here he was, instead of looking at those walls and saying, 'Why God, why? Why me? Why do I have to give me life, why do I have to lose everything?' Guys, instead of looking at those walls in despair, he wrote who his god is on those walls that were meant to keep him down, that were meant to keep him discouraged. He spoke to that darkness, he spoke to that trap, he spoke to that person, he said, 'you know what? Maybe you can stick me in a cell, maybe you can keep me here, but my God is bigger.' I think that guy is telling us, 'Who are you? Who are you concentration camp?' Before my God you are nothing."

I really think that she sums it all up right there. I think that the lyrics to this song are just incredibly powerful, because when you think about it it is all true. The sun may not be shining one day, but we still believe it is there. We may feel absolutely, and completely unloved by everyone, but we still believe in love, and we can just feel like God has abandoned us and He is gone, but honestly, He isn't. He is still here with us, every moment of every day. Even in our darkest, worst moments, God is there. He is with us, and He is loving us.

I think that my favorite line in this whole song is in the second verse, "And learn to trust the one who writes my days." I love that line.

God is writing our days. He knows everything about us and He will always be there. I think that trusting in God is something that we all have to learn. Just trusting, that He will lead and guide us every step of our lives, no matter how hard it gets.

I like the bridge too, and i have a quote actually from the same Barlowgirl, that goes along with it and says this...

"Darkness can never overcome light. No matter what an opposition, no matter what a situation looks like, it is never greater than who God is and it is never stronger than what God is about to do in our lives."

Britney by Bebo Norman-Week #2

Ok, so it hasn't fully been a week yet... but I'm ready to do my second song so maybe later I will change it to "Song of the day" or "Song of the every other day" :) Just kidding, but I might do it more frequently....

This song is called Britney and it is by Bebo Norman...(on my playlist below)
Lyrics:

Britney I’m sorry for the lies we told
We took you into our arms then left you cold
Britney, I’m sorry for this cruel, cruel world
We sell the beauty but destroy the girl
Britney, I’m sorry for your broken heart
We stood aside and watched you fall apart
I’m sorry we told you fame would fill you up
And money moves the man so drink the cup

I know love goes around the world we know
And you never see it coming back, you never see it coming back
And I know love goes around the world we know
And you never see it coming back, but I can see it coming back for you

Britney I’m sorry for the stones we throw
We tear you down just so we can watch the show
Britney I’m sorry for the words we say
We point the finger as you fall from grace
I know love goes around the world we know
And you never see it coming back, you never see it coming back
And I know love goes around the world we know
And you never see it coming back, but I can see it coming back for you

It’s coming back for you
Yeah, it’s coming back for you
Britney I do believe that love has come
Here for the broken, here for the ones like us

I know love goes around the world we know
And you never see it coming back, you never see it coming back
And I know love goes around the world we know
And you never see it coming back, but I can see it coming back for you
It’s coming back for you
Yeah, it’s coming back for you

Ok, so yes this song is a personal apology to Britney Spears. When talking about this song, Bebo Norman quoted,
“Britney is a song about what our culture says and does to young women these days. It’s about the lies we tell them about fame and money and what’s beautiful and what will give them life. It’s an apology for those lies. But more than that, it’s an invitation. An invitation to the truth about a God who is bigger than the pain this world so often leaves them in.”

I think that this song works for more than just girls but for celebrities in general. I think that a lot of times, we will judge celebrities or famous people for the choices they make that we may or may not agree with. There are so many people out there that will just bash these celebrities into the ground because maybe they made a mistake. And, we don't have to love their music, or their choices, or their movies, but I think there's something bigger out there that we sometimes miss. God loves every single celebrity out there just as much as He loves me and you. God loves us unconditionally whether we make mistakes or not. Whether we are famous or not. I think that we just, as humans, see a magazine or see the headline on Yahoo and just automatically judge these celebrities because their choices are poor. But the truth is, it's not our place to judge! We don't want to be judged by the poor decisions we make, and we shouldn't judge the poor decisions that other people make. Without doing a single thing, God loves us. He loves us for who we are. God loves each celebrity for who they are, every single one of them, Britney Spears, Vanessa Hudgens, Miley Cyrus, and all the rest of them. This song really talks about what this world does to the famous girls. We just completely pull them down and then watch them fall. Instead of judging them, let's just love them. Not for their songs, their movies, or their pictures, but for themselves. Even if we don't know who they are, we just need to love them like God loves us, and understand that they will make mistakes, and bad choices, but so will we, and God still loves us and God still loves them. Everyone out here, famous or not, is a child of the King, made in His image and he loves us all the same!

Perfect People.. Week #1

Ok, so I was thinking last night of more things to blog about, and I came up with an idea to do a
'song of the week.' So, I will try every week to write about a song.
I think I'll start out with a song for today that I was listening to last night...

It's called "Perfect People" by Natalie Grant. (on my music playlist below.) Here are the lyrics:

Never let 'em see you when you're breaking
Never let 'em see you when you fall
That's how we live and that's how we try
Tell the world you've got it all together
Never let them see what's underneath
Cover it up with a crooked smile
But it only lasts for a little while

There's no such thing as perfect people
There's no such thing as a perfect life
So come as you are, broken and scared
Lift up your heart and be amazed
And be changed by a perfect God
Suddenly it's like a weight is lifted
When you hear the words that you are loved
He knows where you are and where you've been
And you never have to go there again

Who lived and died to give new life
To heal our imperfections
So look up and see out let grace be enough
By a perfect God
Be changed by a perfect God
Be changed

I really like this song because it's so real. Just in the first verse of the song, it really talks about what how we, as humans live our lives. We live while wearing a cover. We have a fake smile on the outside, and everything is great, but if you look underneath, we are breaking, and falling.

We all know that know one in this world is perfect, so why not just be broken, be imperfect, and (in the words of my dad) "own it!" Let's just let the world see our brokenness and our problems. We all know that only God can change us, so let's let Him do that.

We're not perfect, and we never will be, so why hide it! I think that this world should see our imperfections, and how God works through them in our everyday lives.

Our "covers" will not stay on forever, but the person under them will always be there, and they will always be loved by our amazing God! Let's just let Him work in us, and not be scared to screw up every once in awhile, after all we are just human!

There's no such thing as perfect people!!! :)

*Daughter of the King*

I wrote another poem a few days ago after hearing a song that someone I know wrote.
So here is the poem...

“Daughter of the King”
By Amy C. Yarick

I didn’t know
And I couldn’t see
That when I cried out
You were always with me

I didn’t know
And I couldn’t tell
That you were there
Even when I fell

I didn’t know
That you were there
All the time
And everywhere

I didn’t know
That when I fall
You will save me
Without a call

I didn’t know
I didn’t get it
I had no faith
Not even a bit

I didn’t know
And I wonder why
When it’s you I doubt
You are still by my side

I didn’t know
Anything
But you still call me
Daughter of the king

Hannah Montana: The Movie

Hey,

I went to the theaters with my cousins this weekend and we went and saw 'Hannah Montana: The Movie'! :) It's the most popular movie out right now and I actually really liked it.

I watch the show sometimes and I used to love it. The previews also looked really good, so I decided to watch it and I really enjoyed it. It was a good movie. It's about Miley returning to her hometown, Tennessee, where she meets up with her childhood friend, Travis (played by Lucas Till) and it's also about her life and whether she should continue living 'Best of both worlds' or not. The ending is ok, but it's a little surprising. I really liked her learning more about her family. I loved the horse riding in it, and all the animals. There is also a really good song in the movie called 'The Climb' I'm usually not the biggest fan of Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus songs (I like some, but not many), but this song was amazing. It really talks about life, and it was the perfect song for the movie! I loved it!

Pictures.... (again)

So, Mike (my brother) and I had a mini photoshoot today and I took some actually cool pictures of him... so here are some of many. (I fixed the lighting on 4 of them with the computer, the others are originals.) Also, the last picture is obviously not Mike, it's a tennis ball that was in our yard, used by Lizzie.

A musical poem :)

Hey, I wrote another poem... it's about music. Here is it...

Beautiful noise
By: Amy Yarick

The flutes, the bass
The drums
All the sounds, the chirps
The hums
I lean back
And open my ears
I hear the noise
And lose all my fears
The lively voices
The harmonic strings
I feel like I can fly
So I spread out my wings
Electric and acoustic
I hear the guitar
From both nearby,
And afar
It’s all so beautiful
And absolutely amazing
All the earth’s people
Singing and praising
The sharps, the flats
All the notes
Singing so loud
Without straining their throats
The lovely music
Fills the air
For all to hear
And all to share
A smile on my face
And very pleased ears
With all this music
No more tears
Oh great music
Please don’t come to an end
I love you music
You are my friend
A wave of peace
Comes over me
As I listen to you
your music I feel

Pictures with my new camera!
